Oooh, it is not easy keeping all the balls in the air, is it ladies? Sometimes I feel that I am being pulled in so many different directions, I’m afraid I might snap. While caring for my six youngsters, my husband, keeping my home in order, working for 3 clients – none of whom are in the same time zone as I am, I am challenged – to say the least. Add to that the fact that my oldest is a Senior in high school and is looking into colleges (read – lots of paperwork for me), and that I am the Treasurer at my church (year end reporting, sigh), and it is a wonder that I have time to make dinner.
But, making it all the more challenging is the fact that I cannot seem to FOCUS on any one thing for more than a few minutes at a time. I am forever jumping from one task to another – sometimes completing a task, but often leaving it partially done. It needs to change.
In reading through Chapter 3 in iBloom’s “iChoose2 Love my Life” book, I was encouraged to pick a theme for this calendar year (2013) and one word to, ahem, focus on. This word will be your guiding word, your motto, if you will.
The concept is not new to me. I’ve chosen a theme word before. It just didn’t really sink in. Alas, I am choosing to select that same word – again – for my year. My theme word is (have you guessed it yet?) “Focus”.
So, my intention is to incorporate ‘focus’ into every relationship (genuinely listening to the kids when they talk to me), each business venture (setting a timer and not straying for my work assignment for determined amount of time), and other areas of my life as well. Focus will be my end goal, and this should help me to go a long way toward living a better, more joyful life.
What about you? Do you choose a ‘theme word’ for the year? Do you prefer to make resolutions? I would love to hear your thoughts in the comments below.
This post is the third posts in the series that I am doing while going through the “iChoose2 Love my Life” book – doing one chapter each week throughout the entire year. You can read my other posts here.
